About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a new opportunity for a Project Engineer to partner with the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) program within our Battlespace Integrated Solutions business. Reporting to the Delivery Stream Project Manager, you will be based at Edinburgh, Adelaide and employed on a permanent full time basis.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

BAE Systems Australia is leading the $1.2 billion upgrade of the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN), ensuring Australia remains a world leader in maritime and air defence Over the Horizon Radar (OTHR) systems. The state-of-the-art defence system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead and deliver assigned engineering projects within the Facilities Delivery Stream, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, quality, and performance targets
Oversee all phases of project execution, including early engineering, engineering design, procurement, installation, and close-out
Produce engineering plans, conduct engineering design and document reviews
Ensure documents and artefacts generated are completed and managed in accordance with standard procedures and work instructions, including compliance with product change management and quality control processes
Manage project risks, resolve issues, and ensure successful project completion with appropriate documentation and compliance
Act as a primary point of contact for assigned projects, managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring clear communication
Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring accurate data collection and timely updates to stakeholders and leadership
Work closely with other project engineers and internal teams, supervise and evaluate the performance of contractors, and provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle
About YOU

Project engineering experience or engineering experience on facilities related projects (example HVAC, security system, fire system, water treatment plant, fit outs)
Tertiary engineering degree and critical thinking skills
The ability to investigate and resolve engineering technical issues
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with customers, internal and external stakeholders
Whilst not essential, mechanical engineering or HVAC engineering experience, will be highly regarded
