Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary:
As Senior Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s control systems aspects.You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes.Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project’s control systems aspects are met.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership

Major Responsibilities:
Plans and conducts independent on Control Systems work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of on Control Systems engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​
Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management​
Develops conceptual designs for Control Systems engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements​
Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules​
Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting​
Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data​
Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of on Control Systems aspects of the work​
Conducts or leads special studies of new Control Systems engineering methods, materials and techniques​
Mentors Control Systems engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development​. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
Expertise in control system and instrumentation design and integration in Mining and Metals industry,
Functional safety certification,
RPEQ certification
Expertise in OT (Operational Technology) Cyber Security,
Expertise (including certification e.g. IECEx, ANZEx or AS/NZS 60079) in Hazardous Areas
Clear communication skills and collaborative attitude
Accountable and problem solver
Mentoring and coaching other engineers and designers
