This role is classified as Level 4 (annual base salary pro-rata $98,483 - $106,688) under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department

SBS Technology is the engine room of SBS. We enable and support the production, distribution, and transmission of content across TV, radio, and digital platforms. Our teams design innovative solutions and deliver end-to-end services for stakeholders across the business. In Canberra, Technology supports the Bureau’s newsroom and broadcast operations, ensuring reliable and high-quality delivery of parliamentary and news content to audiences nationwide.

The Role

This is a 12 months (Parental Leave Cover) contract, onsite role based in Canberra.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager (VIC/ACT), the Canberra Technology Support Engineer will play a critical role in supporting IT and broadcast infrastructure at the Canberra Bureau. This role acts as a subject matter expert for local technology projects, ensures systems are maintained and operational, and provides high-level support to journalists, crews, and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting IT and broadcast systems, including desktops, newsroom workflows, and production equipment.
Acting as the on-site Subject Matter Expert for technology projects impacting the Canberra Bureau.
Troubleshooting and resolving technical incidents.
Liaising with SBS teams and third-party vendors to ensure smooth operation of systems and broadcasts.
About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

A proven background in IT and broadcast technology, ideally within a media or live production environment.
Demonstrates experience supporting both Windows and macOS platforms.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
The ability to hit the ground running, quickly adapt to new systems and processes, and work independently when required.
A proactive attitude and the ability to balance incident response with longer-term project work.
