About the OPPORTUNITY

We currently have a new and exciting opportunity for Quality Control Hull Inspector to join our Maritime Australia business based at Osborne, SA.

Reporting to the Quality Control Team Lead, you will be responsible for to ensure that all work performed, including the related work packages and job cards, is completed in accordance with workmanship standards and specifications throughout the prototyping and Batch 1 ship construction phases, as verified through completion of the ITP events.

This includes delivering a broad range of planned quality activities aimed at providing assurance to management that quality practices are being effectively implemented across the project and line of business.

Key responsibilities include:

Support the provision of assurance that robust and effective Quality Control processes and authorities are established and operating effectively within the business area
Support on-going review of delivery of quality plan and provide value added cost of poor-quality metrics for the project, ensuring all rework is minimised within the project
Review and monitor all quality records required (work packs, manufacturer’s data reports, mandatory planned maintenance items, Closing Reports and Task Progression Completion Certificates (TPCCs)) to ensure acceptance by the customer
Coordinate the completion of Preliminary Material Review and contribute towards the Material Review Board (MRB)
Provide quality support and guidance to other departments while helping to create a team culture through open communication and working together to problem solve, creating a good quality culture
Mentor and coach production staff and suppliers on the required level of workmanship as defined by the products drawings, specifications, standards and policies fostering a “right first time” culture
Report and manage nonconforming issues in accordance with processes to ensure that all nonconforming issues are identified, segregated and reported
Ensure all objective quality evidence is complete and accurate upon review and completion of all scopes of work

About YOU

A thorough understanding of all Applicable Codes and Standards utilized in the Fabrication / Welding of Steel Structures and Pressure Equipment
Certified Welding Inspector (with either IWI-B, or CSWIP 3.1, or AWS) is highly desirable
Proven Experience in working to a Quality Management System with good understanding of quality practices and code of conduct
Internal auditor certification and/or previous experience leading audits (highly desirable)
Maritime / Ship building or Maintenance experience (highly desirable), with a sound understanding of ISO9001 and defence/civil technical regulatory framework
Demonstrated experience in a large production/operation environment
Intermediate skills in MS Excel, Word and Visio
A strong understanding and knowledge of quality assurance standards coupled with strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
