About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a great opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our Maritime Sustainment team. Reporting to the Finance Lead, this role is responsible for supporting the Project and/ or Finance Manager in maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial data to facilitate planning and decision making for the project. This role can be based in our Osborne Shipyard office in Adelaide or our Henderson Office in WA.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia such as a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Preparing journals for project accruals and adjustments
Managing the accruals process and prepare and review reconciliation processes between job and general ledger
Assisting with the preparation of the project annual budget, quarterly re-forecast and monthly rolling forecast
Operating, maintaining and improving budgeting and forecasting processes for the project
Preparing the fortnightly project cash flow submission
Providing financial inputs and commentary into the monthly contract status report (CSR)
Maintenance of the project ledger in conjunction with the project controls group
Assisting with Oracle queries from the project
Ongoing billing processes, maintenance, and monitoring, including incorporating changes resulting from Contract Change Proposal’s (CCP’s)
Bank guarantees administration (in conjunction with the Commercial Group)
Milestone schedule maintenance and monitoring, including incorporating changes resulting from Contract Change Proposal’s (CCP’s)
Month-end reporting activities
Preparation of financial reports
KEY CRITERIA:

CA or CPA qualification
Previous project accounting experience, ideally within a large corporation
Growth mindset – ability to work confidently in changing environments
Ability to use good written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of project stakeholder
High literacy and numeracy skills
Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian International & Framework of Reporting Standards (AIFRS)
Strong organisational and high attention to detail skills
Exposure to Oracle ERP desirable
Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Eligibility for a Negative Vetting Level 1 Defence security clearance
