The Opportunity

Downer’s Energy & Utilities division is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Finance – Water QLD to join our senior leadership team. Reporting to the GM Finance – Water and partnering directly with the GM Water, this is a pivotal role responsible for delivering strategic financial outcomes, ensuring governance, and leading a high-performing finance team of 16.

Based in Brisbane, this position plays a critical role in the financial management and performance of our Water business across QLD, including oversight of project valuations, forecasting, strategic planning, and financial compliance. What You’ll Do

Partner with executive and operational leaders to deliver financial insights, reporting, and business strategy
Lead month-end, budget planning, forecasting and project valuation (PV) cycles to Group timelines
Oversee financial controls, compliance, and audit support across the business
Mentor and develop a large finance team, fostering capability and succession
Drive commercial and strategic decision-making through accurate reporting and performance analysis

What We’re Looking For

CPA or CA qualified with 10+ years’ experience in large, complex environments
Proven leadership in financial management, forecasting, reporting and strategic planning
Strong understanding of long-term contract accounting and commercial frameworks
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire large teams with a continuous improvement mindset
Skilled communicator, influencer, and problem-solver with advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge
