As a Commonwealth Government agency, the Bureau operates under the Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water portfolio and reports to the Minister for the Environment and Water.
As one of the few organisations that touches the lives of all Australians and all of Australia, we take our responsibilities to report to the Parliament and respond to elected officials seriously. As our climate and weather continue to make daily headlines, we continue to be at the forefront of the minds of many in politics. We play a key role in many parliamentary inquiries and cross- government activities, providing our expertise in meteorology, climatology, and hydrology.
This role will sit within the Communications Program. The Communications Program includes Government Relations, Media, Creative, Internal and External strategic communication teams. Reporting to the Manager, Government Relations, the Policy Coordination role leads the coordination of our contribution to Parliamentary inquiries, Cabinet submissions, and other government activities.
You will support the coordination of interactions with other government departments and engagement with the Cabinet process. As a central point of intelligence gathering for the Bureau, you will be across critical government programs across the Commonwealth, have a great policy network, and support the Bureau to have deep insights into our broader operating environment.

• experience and interest in policy processes and an understanding of how the system works, who’s who and what is happening
• great collaboration skills and skilled at working with others to provide the best outcomes.
