Description
The Bureau of Meteorology is leading a national upgrade to Australia’s flood warning portfolio. The Australian Government has invested in a 10-year commitment into the national Flood Warning Infrastructure Network (FWIN) Program, which will acquire and upgrade water level gauges, rain gauges, and associated communications equipment, for high priority catchments. The FWIN Program will improve community access to rain and river level observations and enhance provision of flood forecasts and warnings, supporting disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
The Project Manager (FWIN) will be responsible for the delivery of field infrastructure components of scope for the FWIN Program. The scope involves upgrades and new installations of observing and communications equipment at hundreds of sites across Australia, including many remote sites. Site-specific scope ranges from minor component upgrades (such as modem replacement) through to full deployment of new automated flood warning equipment and infrastructure.
The role will be expected to interact effectively across a diverse range of skillsets including observations equipment specialists, Hydrographers, ICT experts, procurement and PMO functions. To be successful in the role the candidate must be able to meet deadlines, sustain high quality outputs, marshal broad expertise towards common outcomes, and have a meticulous approach to project documentation and standards.
The Project Manager will operate as part of the team of Project Managers within the Bureau and manage key activities through the project lifecycle in accordance with the Bureau Delivery Model.
