About the role

As an Assistant Sommelier at Toorak Cellars you will play a big role in the experience of our guests and of our people.

You will contribute to an exceptional service which is efficient, hospitable and true to our ethos, building a community of patrons through confident service and genuine knowledge of our food and wine.

You will proactively contribute to the smooth running of the venue, supporting the management team across all aspects of service and wine including opening and closing of the venue, stock management, wine consults, assist with wine training, wine tastings with suppliers and the wider team, wine list maintenance and contribute to the upkeep of a welcoming and well presented venue.

You will lead by example, and inspire and encourage our people through the sharing of knowledge and honest hospitality.

Who we are looking for

Previous experience in a wine related role, within a venue of a similar style

You have a strong passion for service and wine, a good understanding of the wine industry, local and internationally, WSET education would be preferred but not a deal breaker.

A team player who can build positive relationships and workplace culture.

A genuine desire to learn and expand your knowledge is a must.
