About the Role

Reporting to the Security Systems Coordinator, the Security Systems Officer will support and facilitate the day-to-day operations of all electronic and physical security systems. The role ensures that security systems are operational, secure and meet the needs of the organisation. Working in consultation with the Security Systems Coordinator, the Security Systems Officer will deliver advice and recommendations into projects and required security systems that ensure the University delivers best practice physical security to staff, students and the community when necessary. The Security Systems Officer will also provide a degree of input into security systems as they pertain to new buildings and refurbishments.

While the Security Systems Officer reports to and receives general direction from the Security Systems Coordinator, the incumbent will work with a considerable degree of autonomy and may have supervisory responsibility of technical and other non-professional staff on occasions.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

Broad knowledge of complex IT networks, technical or security systems
Extensive experience with access control, CCTV, alarm systems
Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail as to limit ambiguity
Demonstrated ability to operate independently under general direction. Ability to always exercise sound judgement
Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels, and to effectively influence the adoption of best practice strategies. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation as well as relevant University policies and procedures
Well-developed conceptual and problem-solving skills
Excellent computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets
Demonstrated skills experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team

Qualifications

Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant work experience or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical fields or an equivalent combination of experiences and /or education//training (Essential)
Valid Security License (preferable)
Valid First Aid Certificate Level 2 (preferable)
Victorian Security Advisor and Equipment Installers Licence or progress towards (preferable)
