Arcare is a leading provider of aged care residences across Australia. Due to growth we are seeking motivated Allied Health Assistants (AHA) for residences in Melbourne's West. Working as part of the Allied Health team, Allied Health Assistants play a key role in helping maintain the functional independence of our clients.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Allied Health Clinician, the Allied Health Assistant is responsible for helping to improve client’s physical, cognitive, and phyco-social functions and to optimize their functional capacity for activities of daily living. You will do this by providing efficient and effective 1:1 and group exercise therapy.

The Allied Health Team member will be part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a person-centred, evidence-based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values of Arcare, Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), Occupational Therapy Association (OTA) the Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS) and the NDIS Standards.

Role responsibilities

Reporting to the senior allied health clinician, your role will include (but not limited to):

Enhancing the wellness and lifestyle capacity of residents through exercise and activities focused on restorative and rehabilitative programs.
Delivering exercise and therapy programs both 1:1 and in small groups in accordance to the Physiotherapist’s care plan.
Assisting with client assessments and re-assessments of their physical capabilities as part of their exercise and therapy programs.
Ensuring residents have access to assistive devices as assessed by the physiotherapist.
Assisting with administrative tasks such as equipment ordering and liaising with families.
Assisting with facility cleanliness.
Reporting relevant changes to the Physiotherapist regarding resident progress with exercises.
Reporting changes in resident health or behaviour immediately to the Registered Nurse or Facility Manager.
Assisting in other physical activities delivered by the Lifestyle team.

To be successful:

Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
Computer & phone technology literacy (including Microsoft Office and Outlook)
Current State full driver’s license.
Vaccinations up to date or willing and able to obtain, as required by legislation and/or company policy.
VIC Only – NDIS Worker Screening, WWCC or ability to obtain.
Right to Work in Australia
Current ‘Provide First Aid’ Certificate and CPR
Physical ability to perform stated duties.
