About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Research Governance Lead to join our Research Ethics, Integrity, Governance and Biosafety (REIGB) team and play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, research governance and integrity within the University community.

In this role, you will be responsible for integrating good research governance practice and associated governance programs, policies, and initiatives. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including academic and professional staff, higher degree by research students, and external partners in other universities, hospitals and medical research institutes, to foster a culture of strong governance. This position is instrumental in enhancing the University’s administration of clinical trials and management of its Governance Authorisation and Site Specific Approval process. Working collaboratively with others in the research portfolio and across key university divisions, you will be directly responsible for overseeing the university’s compliance with internal and external requirements for governance of clinical trial research and clinical research more broadly.

The position plays a key role in the further development and implementation of the University’s administration of clinical research governance and the development of effective and efficient research governance processes.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

Extensive experience in an Ethics/Governance Office or in a clinical trial environment.
Excellent project management, organisational and problem-solving skills to deliver effective and timely outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to exercise significant judgement in relation to key decisions related to good governance, and to provide sound advice and commentary on issues.
Sound understanding of relevant industry standards, codes, and governance guidelines related to human clinical trials management and clinical research more broadly.
Sound understanding of internal policy, regulatory and commercial issues relevant to university-industry research collaboration is preferred.
Experience performing Site Specific Approval (SSA) processes and using an online ethics management system would be an advantage.

Qualifications
Tertiary qualification and extensive relevant experience or combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in clinical research governance.
