The opportunity we are seeking an experienced Digital Content Strategist to lead the design and execution of Auckland Council's digital content strategy across all its digital platforms. In this role, you will support portfolio teams, editors, and project members in executing key projects while establishing robust governance for digital content.

You will champion best practices in digital writing, plain English, and accessibility, ensuring all content meets these high standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the organization's information architecture and content model, working closely with the Digital Editor, Digital Content Lead, and project teams to ensure cohesive content delivery.

You will also be a part of a team championing digital content standards, editorial guidelines, and quality metrics. This is done through assessing content performance, providing detailed reports, and collaborating with teams to address any areas needing improvement.

Staying informed on emerging trends, technologies, and policies within the digital industry and local government will be essential, ensuring Auckland Council's digital content remains at the forefront of innovation and best practices.

About you, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, English, linguistics, social sciences, or a related field, coupled with over nine years of experience in roles such as editor, senior content writer/producer, content lead, or content strategist. T

his extensive background should include significant experience within the digital industry, with a strong focus on content strategy, information architecture, or experience design. Additionally, a qualification in copy editing, proofreading, sub-editing, or writing for the web is highly desirable, reflecting a solid expertise in digital content creation and management.
