Assistant Accountant WAM Australia location Melbourne.
About the role as an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in payroll processing and general accounting duties. You will also work closely with and support the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the efficiency of financial operations.
You will be responsible for accurate and timely payroll management, along with assisting in reconciliations and reporting. You should be able to handle payroll processes efficiently and contribute to the overall financial success of the business.
Key responsibilities ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including leave entitlements, superannuation, and adherence to payroll regulations. Address payroll-related queries and maintain accurate payroll records. Support the processing and reconciliation of invoices for both AR and AP, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of payments and collections.
Assist in preparing and submitting BAS, GST, and FBT returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Reconcile company credit card statements, ensuring correct allocation of charges and accurate record-keeping.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing, preparing journal entries and financial reports. Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits, ensuring financial records are accurate and complete.
Perform regular reconciliations of financial accounts, working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure accuracy. Work with the Finance Manager on process improvements and other financial tasks. Assist with additional finance-related tasks and special projects as needed.
Candidate eligibility requirements valid Australia Working Rights mandatory. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field mandatory. Minimum 1+ years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in payroll processing mandatory.
Hands-on experience in ADP Payroll processing and compliance experience is mandatory. Proficiency in Excel and SAP systems is highly preferred. Experience in the manufacturing industry or other fast-paced environments is preferred. Hands-on experience in payroll processing, reconciliations, and supporting financial operations. Familiarity with tax compliance and audit support is an advantage.
