Aviation Security Officer CAA and Avsec location Otago.
About the role we are experiencing a huge growth in travel, so now is a great time to join us as an Aviation Security Officer (ASO). We have several positions available for our intake commencing on 29 January 2024.
As an ASO you'll be responsible for carrying out pre-flight security screening and hold baggage screening of departing passengers and their baggage. Using a variety of equipment and processes to ensure safety within the aerodrome is not compromised.
Perform mobile, foot and static patrols in assigned areas. Carrying out checks to ensure ID cards are displayed appropriately in security areas. Prevent breaches of aviation security and safety in assigned areas.
We offer a comprehensive 6 week training period where you get paid to learn and come out with a NZQA Level 4 qualification. Our training is classroom based as well as on the job experience in our operation. 3 weeks of our training programme is based in Christchurch or Auckland (March/April) and it's important you can commit to attending.
Why join us ASOs have a starting base-salary of $70,084 per annum. In addition to 20 days of annual leave and 12 days sick leave per annum,you are entitled to shift workers leave, AvSec holiday leave, excellent training and free parking and full uniform. About you, we are looking for people who want to contribute to keeping our skies safe and secure. Our people enjoy working on their feet in a job that has lots of variety. You will need to be a problem solver, have good situational awareness and great time management skills. We work a 6/3 shift pattern (three early shifts, three late shifts, three days off) 7 days a week.
You must meet the following pre-requisites NZ/Australian citizenship or NZ residency. Willing to comply with all Health and Safety procedures. Medically and physically fit and willing to undertake a medical assessment by a licensed practitioner. Able to work a shift pattern. Hold a full clean NZ driver's licence (or be in the process of gaining this).
To be considered for the January 2024 intake, you must be available to attend an evening Assessment Centre in person, as well as a daytime face-to-face interview in Queenstown if selected, during mid to late November 2023. Due to the requirements of the role those with colour vision deficiencies, recent serious injuries or criminal convictions will not be considered.
