General Practitioner Presbyterian Support Central location Wellington.

About the role we are looking for a GP to join our team who is genuinely keen to specialize in aged care or who already has a passion for working with older people and gets pleasure from building professional relationships with them and their families/whanau that support their holistic health and well-being.

This is a permanent position 56 hours per fortnight and will provide GP services to our Enliven homes across the Wellington region.  This position works alongside another permanent GP and together these roles provide an on-call component during the week for designated homes and share on-call over alternate weekends.

This is a “hands on” medical role which provides competent resident centred, culturally appropriate medical care that addresses health needs and promotes wellness to Enliven residents.  There is peer support from a well-established Enliven clinical team and good relationships with local health providers.

The GP position operates within an interdisciplinary model, to offer clinical guidance, assistance and support that best meets resident needs and is in line with the vision and values of Enliven.

Your key responsibilities will be actively functioning as the medical lead and taking responsibility for clinical decisions. Providing skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services to residents. Referral of residents appropriately and in a timely manner.

Documentation of all medical care provided, and education / information given to residents, family, whanau and/or EPOA within the Leecare resident management system in line with the health records standards (2002). Working collaboratively with other GPs, NPs, specialists and managers.

About you as well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will share the Enliven values of empathy, compassion and respect and will be keen to adopt the Eden principles, which underpin our philosophy.

In addition, you will hold registration as a medical practitioner in New Zealand with a current APC. Be maintaining or working towards a Fellowship of RNZCGP. Have current New Zealand drivers license. Have five years full time equivalent GP experience including provision of care to older   adults. Be full vaccinated for Covid 19.
