An exciting opportunity to join Auckland’s leading bakery is now available. Wild Wheat is looking for a Packer – Night Shift to join the team at 58 Ascot Road, Mangere. Beginning in 1999, Wild Wheat is now in its 23rd year of operation, and from humble beginnings has grown into a bustling business consisting of six retail stores, an impressive portfolio of more than 450 wholesale customers and now boasts supply deals with premium grocery outlet Farro and meal kit services My Food Bag and WOOP.

Andrew Fearnside, founder and Head Baker, has built Wild Wheat with a health-based approach of ‘good food that is good for you.’ Famous for our sourdough products, we continue to collect awards for many products, including our famous kumara sourdough, and we’re consistently awarded praise for having some of the best hot cross buns in the country.

Our product is at the forefront of what we do, and there isn’t a better example of this than Andrew baking the traditional way with long ferments, hand-shaped and hearth baked, we take great pride in being a market leader with our sourdough breads. We’re looking for Packers to join the team, who wishes to become an integral part of the service we provide to our retail and wholesale customers daily.

The ‘Packer – Night Shift’ is a critical role in ensuring our products get to our customers. Working in a team environment you will be packing 40 different lines of loaves, rolls and pastries for our own retail stores and wholesale customers. Handling roughly 5000 units per shift this is a fast-paced role with deadlines needing to be met to achieve customer satisfaction. The successful applicant will have an eye for detail, and a head for numbers, and will enjoy being on their feet and active for the whole shift. Full training will be provided, but previous packing experience would be helpful. Working in a strong team environment you’ll be tasked with striving to do the best you can every day.

What will you bring to the role have an eye for detail and the ability to pick and pack orders correctly and completed on time ready for collection. A great team player with a positive attitude – working with and helping the rest of the team to achieve targets. Some experience in a pick and pack role would be an advantage but not required. Be reliable and trustworthy. Physical fitness - you're happy to be in a role that has you on your feet and are ok with some heavy lifting (10kgs- 25kgs approx). Strong time management and communication skills. Strong Food Safety and H&S Focus.

This full-time role is for the night shift (we’re a 24-hour operation) from 8pm-4am across a 7-day roster. A competitive wage is available for the right candidate plus room to develop and grow within a large busy bakery operation if so desired.

Wild Wheat is in a growth phase, with additional staff and resources recently added to continue our upward trend. More retail stores will soon be opening, and production lines for our wholesale customers will be expanding. It’s never been a better time to join.
