Programme and Administration Officer Office of the Ombudsman location Wellington.
Programme and Administration Officer - International Development and Engagement (3 Years Fixed Term). Be part of an exciting internationally focussed team. A critical support role. Use your exceptional coordination skills and eye for detail.
About the Ombudsman The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all. The Chief Ombudsman also works internationally to learn from and assist to develop international best practice.
About the team the International Development and Engagement (IDE) Team engages with and supports Ombudsmen and integrity institutions across Asia-Pacific. IDE aims to contribute to lifting good governance, transparency and integrity internationally. The team provide guidance, training and development support to improve public sector capability and accountability in countries in the region.
The team engages in a way that respects each Ombudsman's independence, is sustainable, is collaborative, and is mindful and respectful of different cultures and ways of working. The team also brings learnings from our international colleagues back to the New Zealand Office of the Ombudsman to help inform our own work.
About the role the Programme and Administration Officer role will carry out planning, reporting, logistics support and coordination services to support the delivery of the international work programme. An eye for detail is essential in this role as you will be responsible for IDE travel arrangements and coordinating activities including training, visits and virtual meetings with overseas delegates. You will have data entry and analysis skills to support the team's reporting requirements. You will also have analytical skills so you can support the team by identifying and raising issues or opportunities where appropriate.
About you to be successful in this role you will have superior planning and organisational skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across multiple projects and activities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Data entry, analysis and reporting skills. Proven analytical and problem solving abilities, including the ability to apply analysis to generate sound findings. Common sense and practical judgment. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with a willingness to contribute to a constructive, positive work environment.
